About This Journey
Tanzania is the complete sentence of African travel. The Serengeti's endless grammar — a million acres of uninterrupted wilderness where the Big Five move freely through landscapes that feel untouched by time. Ngorongoro's ancient punctuation — a volcanic caldera holding the highest density of predators on the continent, its floor a world preserved in isolation. And Zanzibar: the beautiful, inevitable closing chapter that turns a safari into something whole — white sand, warm Indian Ocean, and the scent of cloves drifting through coral-stone corridors built by Arab traders a thousand years ago. This ten-day journey moves from the wild interior to the coast with intention. A private guide travels with you across the northern circuit. Every day on safari is fully private — no shared vehicles, no itinerary built around someone else's preferences.
Day by Day Itinerary
Arusha arrival — the gateway to the northern circuit
Private transfer from Kilimanjaro International to your boutique lodge in Arusha. The evening is a terrace dinner with a view of Mount Meru — a rehearsal for the scale of what comes next. Your guide joins you to walk through the northern circuit in detail, translating the map into the experience it will become.
Tarangire — baobabs and the elephant river
Drive west into Tarangire National Park, where October concentrates enormous elephant herds around the Tarangire River. Ancient baobabs, some five centuries old, stand above the plains like monuments. Tree-climbing lions sprawl above you. A private riverside picnic lunch, laid on linen by your camp team while a family of elephants drinks fifty metres away.
Into the highlands — coffee farms and crater rim
Scenic drive through coffee and banana farms into the Ngorongoro highlands. The air cools as you climb. Your crater rim lodge has one of the most breathtaking outlooks on earth — the caldera spreading below you for 20 kilometres, the floor hazed in morning mist. An afternoon walk with your guide through a local Iraqw village.
The crater — a lost world descended into
Full day inside the Ngorongoro Crater. Lions on the open grassland, their prides lazing with enormous authority. Endangered black rhinoceros at a cautious distance. The soda lake, pink with flamingos, at the crater's centre. A private linen-laid picnic lunch on the crater floor with chilled wine — served in the middle of one of the world's great wildlife concentrations.
Serengeti descent — the plain that has no edges
Drive through the crater highlands and descend into the Serengeti. The landscape opens suddenly into something the photographs have never fully captured — a vastness that makes you feel precisely the right size. Your private camp awaits as the sun falls behind the acacia line.
Full Serengeti day — wild, private, unhurried
Dawn to dusk on the Serengeti with no agenda except presence. Cheetah hunts in the morning light. Leopards resting, completely at ease, draped over acacia branches. Lion prides moving across the plains with casual, total authority. A champagne sundowner drive as the sky turns every colour at once.
Northern Serengeti — the return migration
In October, the wildebeest begin moving south through the northern Serengeti. Your guide positions you at the Mara River crossing point — patient, reading the herds, knowing when they will push. A full day in the north, rewarded with the drama that only this crossing delivers.
Fly to Zanzibar — from savanna to sea
Morning charter from the Serengeti airstrip. Arrive in Stone Town — a UNESCO World Heritage labyrinth of carved wooden doors, coral-stone mosques, and centuries of trade history compressed into narrow streets that smell of cloves and jasmine. A private guided walk through the old quarter. A sunset dhow cruise in the channel with canapés and cold champagne as the old town lights up behind you.
The island — slow, private, and entirely your own
Your boutique beach property north of Stone Town sits above the Indian Ocean. A morning snorkelling trip to Zanzibar's coral reef — reef sharks, sea turtles, and formations of coral that have been building for centuries. An afternoon ocean-side massage. As the sun sets, a private chef prepares a Zanzibari seafood dinner on the beach — lobster, octopus curry, and coconut rice laid on a table in the sand under a sky full of stars.
Departure from Zanzibar — the island in your luggage
A final slow morning above the ocean. Private transfer to Zanzibar International. In your departure bag: a curated selection of Zanzibar spices — cardamom, cloves, vanilla — and a recipe card from last night's chef, because the dinner deserves to be made again.
